Global Sustainability Leadership Institute

The Global Sustainability Leadership Institute, formerly known as the Social Innovation Initiative, acts as UT Austin’s hub on campus for innovation in social and environmental impact. The Institute is managed by the McCombs School of Business and is built in partnership with the Moody College of Communication. Our work focuses on corporate sustainability, sustainable finance, impact innovation and infrastructure, and sustainability communications. Our Mission: The GLSI develops leadership and solutions that address critical sustainability challenges and shape an inclusive, regenerative global economy and society. Our Vision: A world where profits and purpose meet to drive positive change.

Energy Institute

The Energy Institute at the University of Texas at Austin fosters interdisciplinary interactions among colleges and schools across campus, while serving as a portal for external audiences interested in learning more about energy research carried out at The University of Texas at Austin. The Institute leverages the expertise of faculty to study critical energy policy questions, and is dedicated to broadening the educational experience of students by creating a community of scholars around energy issues of importance to Texas, the nation and the world.

Webber Energy Group

The Webber Energy Group is a research group in the Mechanical Engineering Department at UT Austin that addresses critical energy and environmental issues at the intersection of engineering, policy and commercialization. The group engages undergraduate, graduate, and professional academic researchers from a variety of engineering, policy, and scientific disciplines. The team also includes talented media and administrative professionals to help communicate our research to the public.

Austin Technology Incubator

The Austin Technology Incubator is a deep tech incubator affiliated with The University of Texas at Austin that serves student and faculty entrepreneurs and community founding teams to explore deep technology solutions that address the world’s challenges. Through deep engagement and deep connections, we help our member companies commercialize their breakthrough innovations.

KBH Energy Center

The KBH Energy Initiative seeks to be the pre-eminent energy initiative at the intersection of energy business, law, and policy. We will pursue this mission by leveraging the resources of the McCombs Business and Law Schools, their alumni, and supporters to expand our knowledge and understanding of this crucial industry; to engage, inform, and connect leaders in that industry, in government, and at UT on core energy issues; to educate and inspire students to be the next generation of leaders; to grow the network and reach of the University of Texas throughout the world of energy.

Longhorn Energy Club

The Longhorn Energy Club is a university-wide graduate and undergraduate student organization that supports interdisciplinary professional development; promotes energy entrepreneurship, and inspires energy research at the University of Texas at Austin. We believe that the multifaceted nature of our global energy challenges demands cooperation across disciplines and technologies, and we operate in close partnership with the major stakeholders at the university, in government, and in the industry to facilitate these opportunities for collaboration.
